Construction at Gulf Breeze Hospital

Baptist Health Care’s Gulf Breeze Hospital expansion has resulted in increased access and convenience for patients of south Santa Rosa County and surrounding areas.

The 2 East Expansion project, which was completed in 2011, included two phases: the outfitting of two shelled rooms in the Intensive Care Unit, and the construction of a 10,000-square-foot annex to house 10 additional inpatient beds and an inpatient physical therapy unit. The architect was George Koper Associates and Morette Company was the construction manager.

Patient care demand created the need for these expansions at Gulf Breeze Hospital. We are proud to be growing with the Gulf Breeze community. ~ Dr. Bob Harriman, senior vice president of Baptist Health Care and administrator of Gulf Breeze Hospital and the Andrews Institute

SLEEP DISORDERS CENTER
The Gulf Breeze Hospital Sleep Disorders Center opened for patients on Jan 18. Two registered sleep technologists and a board-certified sleep medicine physician staff the four-bed center, which is located in a beautifully renovated section of the Ciano Cancer Center building. All rooms are private and feature many home-like comforts and amenities.

“The Sleep Disorders Center team is specially trained to diagnose more than 80 different sleep disorders,” said Patsy W. Myers, vice president of operations. “The information from a sleep study helps patients take corrective action to avoid complications associated with sleep disorders such as narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome and sleep apnea.”

The Gulf Breeze Hospital Sleep Disorders Centers accepts direct referrals from all medical disciplines.

CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION LAB
In April, Gulf Breeze Hospital will complete construction on a new, state-of-the-art cardiovascular catheterization laboratory on the hospital’s ground floor, near the outpatient services entrance. The $1 million project will expand patient access to innovative heart care services by adding invasive diagnostic imaging options for coronary and peripheral heart disease and heart valve disease. Eventually, the lab will be fully accredited to provide interventional cardiac treatments such as angioplasty and stents.

“Cardiac catheterization is the gold standard for diagnosing coronary heart disease and we are very excited to provide this service at Gulf Breeze Hospital,” said Hani Razek, M.D., F.A.C.C., cardiologist with Cardiology Consultants.

The cath lab will bring six new positions to the Gulf Breeze Hospital campus.
