Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Body Treatment at the Baptist Cancer Institute
The Baptist Cancer Institute is proud
to offer the Pensacola community
access to a new, innovative cancer
and neurological treatment option.
Stereotactic radiosurgery is a noninvasive
procedure that can treat
difficult cancers and neurological
dysfunctions. This new type of
treatment delivers a highly
concentrated, tightly focused dose
of cancer-killing radiation directly
to the tumor.
Patient Benefits:
• Enables treatment of brain tumors with an accuracy of
less than 0.5 mm margin of error, allowing patients to
receive the best treatment and care without leaving the
community. |
 |
• Precision beam treatment allows for higher doses of
radiation per treatment, possibly reducing the number
of treatments, while at the same time preserving healthy
tissue. |
• Reduction in pain for people suffering from acoustic
neuromas, trigeminal neuralgias and other functional
neurological disorders. |
• Treatment strategy can be more effective at killing or
controlling certain types of cancer, making cancer a
more manageable disease. |
